Clients who are prone to cold sores must take preventive measures, as the procedure can trigger an outbreak. An antiviral such as Valtrex must be taken five days before the appointment, the day of the procedure, and for five days after. An untreated outbreak can affect the healed appearance of the lip tattoo.
